Our showing career began in 1992 with our heifer Gemma followed in 1993 with Snowy.
1994 saw our heifer Twiggy awarded Reserve Champion at Burnley Show and Champion at the Barrowford Show. Also in 1994 our steer Sam was awarded Overall Champion at the Christmas Fatstock show at Gisburn. Other successes followed with the commercial cattle throughout the remainder of the late 1990’s but in 1996 we decided to establish a Pedigree herd of, as they were then known, British Belgian Blues.
At the British Belgian Blue Cattle Society’s show and sale at Chelford in September 1996 we purchased our first pedigree female Kenray Juan Hill followed by Sedworth Lucy at the 1997 Show and sale during May in Carlisle. These two females became our foundation cows.
2000 - 2002
Sedworth Lucy produced our first pedigree show cow, Pendle Rose sired by Cristal De Somme. Rose was shown successfully as a maiden heifer winning 4 Championships and 2 Reserve Championships. One of the shows was the Royal Lancashire were she was awarded Reserve Champion British Belgian Blue and one of the highlights of the show was when she was placed 2nd in a very competitive Interbreed class of 13 quality heifers.
In September we purchased the top price female for 3,500gns at the show and sale in Carlisle. Stowbeck Lulu had her bull calf at foot, Stowbeck Storm, a Philiper De Remichampagne son. Storm achieved many show ring success in 2002 and became our stock bull. At the time of purchase Lulu was again in calf to Philipper De Remichampagne which resulted in a heifer calf Pendle Trixy, who was shown very successfully and went on to produce Pendle Australia.
At the Border British Belgian Blue Club’s calf show in February our first two homebred heifer calves, Pendle Ursula and Pendle Ula both by Outilleux Et De Waleffes out of Pendle Robinea and Pendle Rose respectively were awarded the Reserve spot in the progeny class.
An April 2001born heifer Pendle Trixy, by Philiper De Remichampagne out of Stowbeck Lulu, was shown as a maiden heifer and was Breed Champion at Great Harwood Show, Goosnargh and Longridge Show and the prestigious Royal Lancashire Show.
2003 was when we showed our first crossbred heifer, Jubilee, sired by Stowbeck Storm and she had a successful show season receiving Champion Butchers Beast and reserve champion at Kilnsey Show.
Isabella also started her show career at the tender age of 6 training and showing her calf Pendle Valley. At Trawden Show under Judge Don Tyson she won her age group and then went on to win the seniors class as well. This special partnership with Valley only added to her keenness for the show ring and after many shows she went on to take the Champion Young Handlers title at the Border Belgian Blue Club’s open calf show in 2007.

We entered our first cattle into the sale ring at the Border British Belgian Blue Club’s show and sale in Carlisle in May. Being given Lot 1 with Stowbeck Storm was something of a nervous time but he sold for 7,000gns and we believe holds the record for the highest priced first lot through the sale ring. Stowbeck Storm had served our herd very well and at the same sale we sold his son Pendle Tom Tom for 3,600gns.
We also purchased our present stock bull Blue Stone Union Jack at the same sale. He is a Baron Du Bois Bauloye son and had been judged Reserve Senior Male at the proceeding show.
Pendle Valley took the Breed Championship at the Great Eccleston Show and became Reserve Interbreed Champion as well. Isabella, this time accompanied by Pendle Wizzy, took the Champion Young Handler class.
Thomas won the Young Handler Class at the Royal Lancashire Show with Pendle Wave at five years of age.
